Mark Your Calendar for April 22, 2006!  

Plan a spring trip to the beautiful Ouachita Mountains, 
in Mena, Arkansas, for a fun filled, educational 
SPORT HORSE CLINIC.

Instructor for the clinic is Susan Mayo.  
Susan is a teacher through and through.  Not only was teaching children her 
"day job," Susan is a very successful competitor in SPORT HORSE competition, 
as well as bringing home the blues in Western Pleasure Open Stallion, 
Western Pleasure, Stock Seat Equitation, Dressage through third level, Stock Horse, 
Trail Horse, Hunter Hack, Hunter Pleasure, Sidesaddle, Native Costume, 
English Pleasure and English and Western Pleasure Pro-Am.

Susan has been a successful teacher of riding and horsemanship 
since the early 70's.  She also conducts regularly scheduled schooling shows
 on her farm in Denton, Texas.   Susan's students have consistently won in
 Hunter, Hack, Western Pleasure, Stock, Trail, Dressage and SPORT HORSE.

Come prepared to learn and enjoy!

When:

April 22, 2006 - Registration, pick up packets, etc. 8:30 a.m.  Clinic begins promptly at 9 a.m. and should be completed by 4 or 5 p.m. 

Where:

Polk County Fairgrounds, Mena, Arkansas - Open arena in good weather, covered arena in case of rain. 

Why:

The SPORT HORSE movement is the most exciting new way to enjoy your horse that has come along in over a decade.  Designed for the amateur owner/handler, it is spreading across the United States at an incredible pace.  Already being added to numerous class A shows.  In 2003, the AHA organization sponsored the first Sport Horse National Show for the Arabian and Part-bred Arabian horse breed.

Best of all, the manner in which the SPORT HORSE is shown is not limited by breed.  Although this clinic is sponsored by an Arabian breed organization, it will prepare you for showing in numerous breed and SPORT HORSE shows.  Judges for these shows are FEI judges, and not breed judges.

Schedule:

Instructions in SPORT HORSE IN-HAND (halter) 9 a.m.
                      Lunch Break
                      Riding Demonstration
                      Equine Nutrition Clinic
                      Afternoon Clinic session - Resume in-hand if needed
                      Working Stock Horse Under Saddle 

Who:

This clinic is for all breeds, and will apply to any breed show Sport Horse Classes.  It is organized by THE EGYPTIAN HORSE ALLIANCE OF WESTERN ARKANSAS, an active group of Arabian horse breeders in Polk County Arkansas.  Such important corporate sponsors, as NUTRENA FEEDS are supporting this clinic with their sponsorship and participation.  

Costs:

All 4-H & Pony Club members, and their leader, will be admitted free, when attending as a group.

All children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a paid adult and will be admitted free.

Ages 16 and up - $20 to audit (participate as an observer).  $35 to bring a horse.

In compliance with the current laws, participation is at your own risk. 

Facilities:

Concessions; Trailer Hook Ups (fee); Bathrooms; Commercial booths; plenty of parking; Within city limits, near restaurants.  No stalls.

The EGYPTIAN HORSE ALLIANCE OF WESTERN ARKANSAS is composed of an active group of co-operative Egyptian Arabian Horse Breeders centered in the Mena, Arkansas area.  Working together as a team, they focus on developing regular activities within this area.  The purpose is education and the advancement the Straight Egyptian Arabian Horse, as defined by the Pyramid Society.
