A work in progress.
Original sculpture by Barbara S. Lewis, artist and horse breeder.

It has been my observation that most equine sculptures are a distorted replication of the horse.
Muscles are in the wrong places or mis-shapen, proportions are wrong, and quality is lacking.
Bronze sculpture is not only to please the eye, but is also an appreciable investment.

There are variations, not only in the quality of the work, but in casting and bronze quality, itself.  In addition there is a great number of poor quality, illegally copied pieces which are sold at cheap prices in huge editions, and now flooding the market.  Beware of these.

So that you are assured of the best investment, each step of my sculpture from the armature to the completed casting is done, supervised or approved by me.  I use one of the finest foundries in the United States, who casts for many of this countries finest equine artist and are experts in creating monumental size pieces.  They are professionals through and through, professionally staffed and using only the very finest in materials.  Once an edition is filled, the mold is destroyed.

Above is a clay Maquette of a weanling filly.  It is a project that will ultimately
be cast in bronze in it's original 11 inch size.  The edition of the 11 inch piece will be 35 original castings.
It will also be cast as a 50 life size garden piece.  The edition of the garden size will be 15 original castings.

The variation in color in this photo is due to the use of 2 different clays, and will not influence the final piece.

The edition is being presold at a discount before casting.  Reserve your original now to assure
quick delivery at the best price.
