NEWS:

We are pleased to announce that a new gallery will be handling our work in the future.  SOUTHWEST AMERICAN ART GALLERY, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, has added the paintings of Tyrone Lewis and sculpture of Barbara Lewis, to their stable of artists.

The OUACHITA ART TRAILS, STUDIO TOUR was a great success.  We enjoyed meeting many new people, and sales were good.  This is the first of many such annual tours to come.  Join us next year in the beautiful Ouachita mountains of Arkansas.

"PAINT THE PARKS" has again selected 2 of Tyrone's works for their large, traveling exhibition.  It is a sister exhibition to the PAINT AMERICA show, which also includes Tyrone's work.

The “PAINT AMERICA TOP 100” art show is the foremost juried, competition for representative paintings depicting the beauty and grandeur  of America.  It is also one of America's richest art competitions.

Two works are selected to represent each state in the TOP 100. "AFTER THE RAIN," was chosen for the Top 100, as one of the two representing Arkansas.  Only one painting is selected for each state in the TOP 50 MINIATURE section.   "DESERT ROAD TO TAOS" was the single painting chosen to represent the state of New Mexico in the Miniature Top 50.

Once again, Tyrone's work as been accepted in the Salon International Exhibition at the Greenhouse Gallery, in San Antonio Texas.  In addition, his work will also appear in the Society of Master impressionist International Exhibition, both juried shows.

The Saint Joseph's Hospital, in Hot Springs, Arkansas has selected three of his works from Gallery Central, for their permanent collection.

In Shreveport, Louisiana, Tyrone has just installed a series of mural size landscapes, set in panels
for the new home of a major breeder of Thoroughbred horses.

Tyrone Lewis was raised in a family of artists.  His maternal grandfather, Hans Hubbard, a respected Fort Worth artist, settled near Mena, Arkansas, and always welcomed his grandson into his studio.  Thus did Tyrone learn to appreciate and create art.

Desiring to pursue an artistic career, he graduated with a B.F.A. degree from the Memphis College of Arts, and then worked as an interior designer for residential and commercial properties and as a fashion coordinator for Federated Department Stores.  Always he painted.

Tyrone has been featured in multiple regional juried shows throughout the United States.  Galleries in Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas, Arizona and New Mexico have featured his works, as has Southern Accents Magazine, The Collectors Guide of New Mexico, and others.  Tyrone's paintings have also been purchased by numerous corporations for their archival collections, as appreciable investments.

Tyrone, lives in western Arkansas with his wife Barbara and daughter Alexis, where, in addition to their art, they breed Egyptian Arabian horses.

Of his work Tyrone says, “Having been influenced by my grandfather, I found my  first endeavors in the visual arts, were portrayals of the landscape.

Over the years I have identified myself with various imagery and varied venues, yet I always come back to the landscape and it’s forms.  I know not the reason other than the fact that the melody is always in perfect harmony, regardless of conditions, which leads one to ponder how and why and who or what is responsible.”

Tyrone's wonderful use of color and light, his paintings faithfully represent the ever changing landscapes of the American horizon.  Traveling throughout the United States, he faithfully brings life to his canvases, freezing in time the beauty of nature.  With an understanding drawn from the roots of his childhood, molded with appreciation of art and nature, he has matured to become a serious, dedicated, fine artist of significance.
