Growing up in the
natural, undisturbed Ouachita mountains, was an advantage not
enjoyed by many American boys. It provided an opportunity for
an invaluable education that began after school was
dismissed.
Tyrone's favorite
place was the home and studio of his grandfather, where he spent
more of his spare time.. He might sit and watch him paint, or
spend the day listening to his endless stories about men and
events in history. Often they would go on one of their frequent walks
over the mountains. He never was too busy for his grandson.
His grandfather taught him to appreciate all things of
this earth, and taught him the meaning of beauty. It was a
lesson that has carried through to many aspects of his
life. In many ways, the
paintings in this ongoing series is a tribute to his grandfather,
Hans Hubbard. They are born from the understanding of the endless beauty that is
his homeland. Note:
